Recent Work: Kitchen Pendant Lights in Severna Park

In a Severna Park kitchen we installed three pendant lights over the breakfast counter. It’s a good example of the lighting work we do: fixtures placed where they work for the room and wired neatly and to code. We’ve also replaced smoke alarms for a Severna Park homeowner. Working smoke alarms are one of the simplest safety upgrades you can make.

Living Near the Water

A lot of Anne Arundel County sits along the Chesapeake Bay and its rivers. Severna Park, for example, lies between the Severn and Magothy Rivers. Homes near the water see a lot of moisture and storm weather, which is hard on outdoor outlets, exterior lighting and service equipment. Outdoor receptacles should be GFCI protected and have weather-resistant covers, and corrosion around a meter or outdoor disconnect is worth having checked before it becomes a problem.

Storms are also a good reason to think about backup power. A standby generator, or a properly installed inlet and transfer switch for a portable one, keeps your heat, refrigerator and sump pump running safely. Not sure which is right for you? Read Standby vs. portable generators.

Permits in Anne Arundel County

Anne Arundel County requires an electrical permit for electrical work such as wiring, fixtures and service changes, and the permit has to be in place before work starts. Inside Annapolis city limits, permits go through the City of Annapolis rather than the county. We handle the permit and schedule the inspection, so you don’t have to sort it out yourself.

Anne Arundel County Electrical FAQ

Do you really come out to Anne Arundel County?

Yes. We serve communities across the county, from Glen Burnie and Linthicum to Severna Park and Annapolis. Call (443) 986-1000 to check your address.

Do I need a permit to add lighting or an EV charger?

In most cases, yes. Anne Arundel County requires an electrical permit for new wiring and equipment. We take care of it.

My outdoor GFCI outlet keeps tripping. Is that dangerous?

It’s doing its job by cutting power when it senses a problem, often moisture. Repeated tripping means something needs attention, like a damaged outlet, a wet cover or a fault on that circuit. We can track it down.

Do you work on commercial spaces?

Yes. We do offices, shops and other commercial spaces, including lighting upgrades, new circuits and tenant fit-outs.
